Sometimes, it becomes necessary to import contacts from other devices or email accounts into our iPhone. There exist a number of ways to add or import contacts into an iPhone.
1. Via iTunes
All you need is a Windows PC having your contacts, iTunes and your iPhone either having or not having your iPhone contacts.
First, open iTunes and connect your phone to the PC with USB. Now, go to device settings inside iTunes. To do that, click on your iPhone and choose the Info Tab. After you’re inside the Info Tab, select the “Sync Contacts With” option and select “Windows Contacts” from the drop-down list of choices. For Windows XP, choose the “Windows Address Book” option. Then click the Sync button at the right bottom corner of iTunes. After the sync of iPhone contacts is complete, you will have all your Windows contacts imported into your iPhone.
2. Import from Palm
If you have a Palm, BlackBerry or Windows Mobile device, and use a Mac, your best bet is to use Missing Sync. This tool works by extracting data from an old handset, by using a different and device-specific version of Missing Sync, and then converting the data so that it is compatible with iPhone. The English, German and French language versions are included in a single installer. Electronic downloads will cost you about $40 from the Space/Mark Online Store.
3. Import email contacts to iPhone
It is easy to import email account contacts from Google, Yahoo, etc. to your iPhone without taking the help of iTunes. To do this, you’ll be needing an iPhone contacts tool called CopyTrans Contacts, your email account, your iPhone and a Windows PC.
First, go to your email account and go to the Contacts section. If you have a Gmail account, click the “More” option and select “Export”. Then choose all the contacts you want to export and choose the option for vCard format. Then, click “Export”.
If you own a Yahoo account, go to Contacts, then Actions. Then select “Export All”. In the end you will get a single .vcf file which contains all your contacts. Now you’re ready to import them straight into your iPhone.
Open CopyTrans Contacts and drop/drag the .vcf file from the folder in your PC to the main window of the program. Now you have successfully imported all your email contacts into your iPhone.
To import your SIM card data to your iPhone, install and execute the iPhone Data Recovery program. Then, connect your iPhone to a Mac. After that, choose the iPhone model you have and select the “Recover from iOS Device” option. In this mode, you can run a scan on your device directly for deleted SIM card data, such as text messages, call logs, contacts lists and so on.
For users of iPhone 5S, 5 or 4S, you have to scan the SIM card data on your iPhone by clicking on the “Start” button. If you have the iPhone 4 or 3GS, you need to follow these steps:
- Click on the “Start” button on your iPhone.
- Press the “Power” and “Home” buttons together for 10 seconds exactly.
- Take your finger off the “Power” button, while still holding the “Home” button. Keep holding until it says that you have entered the system successfully.
After entering the iPhone’s system, your iPhone will be automatically scanned by the program. Then, by clicking the “Start Scan” button, you can scan files.
After the scan is complete, you will find all messages, call history, contacts and other data in clear categories listed. Then you can select the category that you want to restore, and choose the items before recovering your data. Clicking the “Recover” button will save them on your computer.
